Perhaps you, like me, started as a developer with the same thought: writing code should be 100% of the job. It isn’t. Code is only a part of what we do.
I’m Jordan Krey, Head of Engineering at RentRedi. Before that I led engineering at SingleOps and Buildium. For more than 20 years I have helped engineers grow, into management or deeper on the technical track.
What I believe:
- You own your career. Your manager’s job is to help you get there.
- Teams without conflict fail together. Argue about the problem, not the person.
- Customer value is the point. If it doesn’t help the people who use it, it isn’t done.
- Own the outcome. And the quality of every line you ship, whoever wrote it.
kreyz.com (pronounced “crazy”) is where I write about career growth: what has worked, what hasn’t, and projects when I have them.
